The Place Between. And Why.

So I have been thinking about starting a blog for quite a while now and finally mustered up the courage to do so this week. I am a storyteller, both written and visual, and have been relying on social media to share bits of my life. Let's just say, it's not cutting it. After becoming a mom this past Spring, I have had this intense desire to document my days. I think it is my way of responding to this new life, to my daughter who is transforming in front of my eyes, little by little becoming stronger, taller, smarter, and well, squishier. And it's incredibly bitter-sweet to realize that there is nothing I can do to stop time, nor anything I would give to do so. Because these moments, her life, our life together is beyond precious.

As I mentioned, blogging is new to me but seems like the perfect way to capture this ever-changing life we are living. I plan to share my personal experiences in motherhood, albeit new and untouched territory for me, as well as simple living, my artistic practice, our home, and travel stories. I'll also be revisiting the past five to six months, sharing my daughter's birth story, our pregnancy, art exhibitions and residences, and the in-betweens that are still present in my mind.

And who I am? Well, I'm a girl named Jess, married to a guy named Zach, loving a little girl named Finley. Together we live in a small house with our four adopted pets, two dogs and two cats, who wander around our house searching and begging for food, affection, and love. Can't we all relate to that? We have been married for five years now, loving for nine, and hopefully will be until we are wrinkled, grey, toothless, and saggy. We practice a zero/low waste lifestyle the best we can, travel when time and money are on our side, and care for our home that cares for us. The Place Between will be a space for my thoughts to unfold and rest.

I'm optimistic about this and open to topic suggestions. Thanks for popping in.
